Shades of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh Lip Block – Lush Review

I am a huge makeup lover and lipsticks are my favourite kind of makeup, I just adore them. I have only recently however ventured into trying the Lush makeup range. I think that is mainly because in general stores there is only a very small amount of makeup and it is very easy to walk past it with all the other wonderful products catching your eye.

When I saw that this Lip block was being released this Christmas (2017), it instantly caught my eye. Probably due to how sparkly it is as I’m a little bit of a magpie when it comes to anything shiny or sparkly.

The Lip Blocks are basically a packaging fee solid lipstick. It comes in the form of a block and has three different shades that can be used individually or mixed together in the well in the centre of the block to create a custom shade.

The shades of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh Lip block contains a mixture of the most beautiful shades perfect for autumn and winter months. There is a beautiful deep bronze colour which works amazing as a winter nude and two slightly more sparkly shades which can be used on there own for a subtle touch of glitter or used on top of your favourite lipstick shade to create a beautiful shimmer.

I find the Lip block was easiest to use with a lip brush, but you can also use the block directly onto your lips or use your finger to put the desired amount of colour onto your lips. I found the colour to be quite drying on the lips, but if you use a little lip butter before hand this helps to keep your lips moisturised all day long.

Overall I really enjoyed the Shades of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh Lip block and I’m looking forward to venturing in to the world of lush makeup a little more and seeing what else they have to offer.

I’m a belly dancer. I bought it to use instead of spray, lotion, or loose glitter for performance. There aren’t as many “nasties” in this. Besides, the dressing room often smells horrible with all the strongly scented stuff other dancers are applying. The spray is the worst; it can really gag you (especially if several people use it). And it gets everywhere.

But with this, glitter goes only where I want it. No mess, no odor; just sparkle!
